On 16 April 2023, Dr. Surachai Sathitkunarat, Vice President of NXPO and the Executive Director of APEC Center for Technology Foresight (APEC CTF), was invited to share experiences in the APEC STI Think Tanks Dialogue, the project under  PPSTI 05 2021 – Strengthen APEC Think Tank Cooperation on STI Strategy to Enhance Recovery Featured with Innovation, Inclusion and Sustainability held onsite and online in Beijing, China. The conference appears to have had a diverse representation of senior executives from various economies, including the People’s Republic of China, Australia, the United States, Thailand, and Chile to discuss the specific perspectives and insights that these individuals brought to the table, particularly in regards to STI policies and strategies in their respective regions.

During the event, Dr. Surachai shares experiences on the topic “ Foresight for STI Policy Development” to discuss how NXPO and APEC CTF have collaborated to integrate foresight tools into every phase of the policymaking process. Foresight are tools used to analyze and forecast future technologies and trends. The analysis can inform the development of policies across a range of domains, from economic, social, and environmental.

Moreover, Dr. Surachai also made recommendations to BEIJING BLUEPRINT on Science, Technology, and Innovation Think Tanks Cooperation to Strength an Interconnected, Innovative, and Inclusive Future in APEC Regions, on several issues. Fore example, the “Talent Mobility” of APEC experts could enable the networks to learn ways of working and exchange expertise in a concrete way.
