On September 18, 2024, the APEC Center for Technology Foresight (APEC CTF) held a strategic meeting with the Multidisciplinary Research Institute (MDRI) of Chiang Mai University to discuss future planning and collaboration.

The MDRI team, led by Prof. Emeritus Dr. Sanchai Jaturasitha and Assoc. Prof. Wongkot Wongsapai, welcomed Dr. Surachai Sathitkunarat, Executive Director of APEC CTF and Senior Strategist of NXPO and APEC CTF team.

Dr. Surachai, with over 20 years of experience in foresight for Thailand, highlighted the role of foresight tools in analyzing emerging trends in economics, technology, and other sectors. Dr. Kommate Jitvanichphaibool, Deputy Director of APEC CTF, presented a draft process work proposal, detailing a collaborative approach to co-designing MDRI’s future strategy, including research agendas, R&D topics, and organizational adaptation.

The collaboration aims to equip MDRI with the foresight tools necessary to navigate global trends and strengthen its research and innovation capabilities for the future.
