APEC CTF PARTICIPATES IN NATIONAL INTELLIGENCE AGENCY’S TRAINING ON FORESIGHT TOOLS FOR FUTURE THREAT PREPAREDNESS

21 May 2025 – The APEC Center for Technology Foresight (APEC CTF) – the Office of National Higher Education Science Research and Innovation Policy Council (NXPO), was invited by the Futures Studies Center of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) to serve as a speaker in a training program on the application of foresight tools. The session, titled “Developing Intelligence Systems to Address Future Threats,” was held at the Phakdee Conference Room, Abloom Exclusive Serviced Apartment, Phahonyothin Soi 3, Bangkok.

The training aimed to build the capacity of intelligence personnel by introducing foresight tools for analyzing emerging signals and strategic planning. The session was led by Dr. Kommate Jitvanichphaibool, Deputy Director of APEC CTF, along with the team. They delivered both theoretical insights and hands-on training using tools such as Future Radar and the Foresight Canvas, which were applied to four key scenario groups:
- Natural Disasters and Emergency Crises
- Violence in the Southern Border Provinces
- Cyberattacks
- The Fifth Domain (Emerging Battlefields)


The intensive session received strong engagement from participants across various government and private sector agencies.


This training marked a significant advancement in integrating futures thinking into national security efforts, reinforcing Thailand’s readiness to face emerging 21st-century threats with greater resilience and foresight.
