The International Advisory Board (IAB) Meeting 2026 of the APEC Center for Technology Foresight (APEC CTF) was held virtually on 22 June 2026, bringing together international foresight and STI policy experts from across the Asia-Pacific and partner economies. The meeting provided strategic guidance on the Center’s direction, activities, project portfolio, and future contribution to APEC cooperation in science, technology and innovation. The Board reviewed APEC CTF’s renewed 2026–2029 mandate, which emphasizes three core functions: conducting APEC-wide foresight studies and providing policy recommendations; strengthening foresight capacity among member economies; and facilitating regional collaboration, joint policy research, and foresight data resources. Members also reviewed the draft APEC CTF Annual Report 2025 and discussed the 2026 project pipeline, including APEC Young Futurists: Frontier Technologies and Solutions for Future Food and Strengthening Mission-Oriented Frontier Technology Commercialization Ecosystem in APEC. Key recommendations included strengthening project methodology and impact measurement, developing a multi-year strategic foresight agenda, broadening regional and institutional partnerships, improving dissemination and visibility, and engaging diverse groups of young futurists. The Board also emphasized the importance of demonstrating measurable impact during the Center’s four-year mandate and positioning APEC CTF as a distinctive regional platform that “connects the dots” across APEC and the Asia-Pacific.
